Star of Bethlehem – Light of Hope in the Darkness

Since the beginning of the global Corona pandemic, politicians and people in power have continued to promise us hope and better days. At first the emphasis was on “15 Days to Slow the Spread'', and then there were more lockdowns, more restrictions and more hopelessness. “There’s light at the end of the tunnel” – was a phrase frequently used. Now, seven months later there seems to be no end to this global turmoil. The promised “light at the end of the tunnel” turned out to be an oncoming train of global proportions, which destroyed hopes, dreams and livelihood plans of millions.

In all of this darkness, the Star of Bethlehem continues to shine upon the broken and collapsing world, with an eternal hope and peace. This star was lit over 2000 years ago, when Jesus was born in the small Jewish village of Bethlehem. His birth was also accompanied by a proclamation of the angel “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people!” <Luke 2:10>. The phrase “all the people” encompasses you and me, who are currently living today. In the Star of Bethlehem we can find peace and hope, even in the most hopeless circumstances imaginable.

As we approach eternity, the Star of Bethlehem will grow and increase in size and brightness. In fact, prophet Malachi describes this growth in the following words: “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays!” <Malachi 4:2>. What an amazing and glorious day that will be, for those who accepted Jesus as their Savior!

Today, when we are surrounded by hopelessness and fear, look upon the shining star. This star will rekindle hope and peace in your heart and will show you the road to an eternal future. Only Jesus can provide this peace and freedom to your aching and hurting heart. Turn to Him, He is Mighty to Save!
